Commonly call Purple or Red Fountain Grass. 'Rubrum' is a fast growing grass producing long graceful maroon purple leaves. The spike of bloom is showy and soft. The overall shape of the plant looks similar to a fountain. 

'Rubrum' rarely sets seed, it is not invasive. Grown as a perennial in zone 9 and above. In cooler climate, it is often grown as an annual after frost. Flowers in the summer.
